Adult Echocardiogram
Portable ultrasound imaging of the heart to evaluate structure and function in adult patients.
An adult echocardiogram uses sound waves to create moving pictures of your heart. Our portable ultrasound technology allows us to perform this test at your location, providing the comfort and convenience of on-site testing. This safe, non-invasive test allows our specialists to see how your heart chambers and valves are working, measure the pumping strength of your heart, and detect various heart conditions. Unlike some other imaging tests, echocardiography does not use radiation, making it completely safe.
Before Your Visit
- No special preparation is usually required
- Wear a two-piece outfit for easy access to your chest
- Continue taking your regular medications
During Your Visit
- You will lie on your left side on an examination table
- A technician will apply gel to your chest
- A transducer will be moved across your chest to capture images
- You may be asked to change positions or hold your breath briefly
After Your Visit
- You can resume all normal activities immediately
- The gel will be wiped off your chest
- Results are typically available within 24-48 hours
- Uses sound waves and does not involve radiation
- The test is completely safe with no known risks
- Portable equipment allows for on-site convenience
