The test is completely safe with no radiation exposure.
Before Your Visit
- No special preparation is usually required
- Dress your child in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
- Bring a favorite toy or comfort item to help your child relax
- For infants, feeding before the test may help them stay calm
During Your Visit
- Your child will lie on an examination table
- A technician will apply warm gel to your child's chest
- A transducer will be gently moved across the chest to capture images
- Parents are encouraged to stay with their child during the test
After Your Visit
- Your child can resume all normal activities immediately
- The gel will be wiped off
- Results are typically available within 24-48 hours
- Completely safe for children of all ages including newborns
- Uses sound waves with no radiation exposure
