It can also assess thyroid size and detect other abnormalities in the gland.
Preparation Guide
Before Your Visit
- No special preparation is required
- Wear a shirt with an open collar or V-neck
- Remove any necklaces or jewelry around your neck
During Your Visit
- You will lie on your back with your neck slightly extended
- A pillow may be placed under your shoulders
- Warm gel will be applied to your neck
- A transducer will be moved across your thyroid area
After Your Visit
- You can resume all normal activities immediately
- The gel will be wiped off your neck
- Results are typically available within 24-48 hours
